Blossoms will run away -
Cakes reign but a day.
But memory like melody,
Is pink eternally

Morgana King

Here is a beautiful song (sung, among others, by Barbra Streisand) performed by the great jazz singer Morgana King.
Morgana King (born Maria Grazia Morgana Messina DeBerardinis in 1930) was a jazz singer who has recorded over thirty albums to date. She was born in Pleasantville, New York, of half Sicilian and half Portuguese descent, her father had been a performer of folk and popular music on voice and guitar, and she began singing in nightclubs such as Basin Street in New York City when she was in her mid-twenties. She toured extensively giving memorable concerts in Rome, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. She settled in California in 1969, started a second career as an actress and was later cast in The godfather and The godfather Part II for the role of Carmella Corleone, wife of Don Vito Corleone. Another role of King's was in the 1997 film A Brooklyn state of mind; she has also appeared in several television productions. Some listeners find her efforts the most swinging of the 1960s generation of pop singers. It meant much critical acclaim during her career, if not great commercial success.
