Blossoms will run away -
Cakes reign but a day.
But memory like melody,
Is pink eternally

Ella Fitzgerald

It is not necessary to introduce the fabulous Ella Fitzgerald (1917-1996), nicknamed the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz, and Lady Ella and noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.
She had a 60-year career and received fourteen Grammy Awards, the National Medal of Arts, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
In 1990, she also received an honorary Doctorate of music from Harvard University.
Along with Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald was the greatest jazz singer ever.
Here are 3 legendary performances on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Enjoy!
